This is one of our Custom Fish Carving that Snidely has created here in our studio. We offer this life size Bull Dolphin/Mahi Mahi/Dorado, hand carved from a solid piece of Rescued Florida Laural Oak. (We buy the trees that are cleared by develpors that would otherwise go to the dump and be mulched).
This oak is extremely dense/hard and has one of the most unique and beautiful grains that we use. The complex matrix of marble appearance will impress even those who don't have an appreciation of exotic wood grains.
We challenge you to find a more realist, life-like Mahi Fish Replica carved from wood. This sculpture was painstakenly recreated from a frozen mahi that I caught and used as a model while attempting to duplicate the most life-like wooden replica produced anywhere.
Snidely took painstaking time to make this fish look exactly like the real thing using a frozen Wahoo (as the model) that he caught himself. This fish sculpture is 54"L X 18"H X 5" deep. The photo really doesn't do this fish justice. The tail is shaped to come away from the wall in a natural bent position to repesent natural movement of these fish. We can make one for you any size that you like. Custom orders are welcome. Realistic fish like this make the perfect tropical decor inside your home and out.
